Order of the Arrow Announcements

As various awards and activities in the Order of the Arrow are announced, they will be added on this page. (Policy changes are announced separately in the occasional Operations Updates, which are issued as needed.)

Thousands of Arrowmen to Gather for National Conference

In just over seven months, thousands of Arrowmen from across the country will converge on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU), in East Lansing, MI, for the 2012 National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC).

Journey to Excellence

When the Boy Scouts of America launched the new strategic plan, a transition was made to a new program to measure unit, district, and council performance. Following the Boy Scout's transition, the national OA committee adopted the Journey to Excellence program to replace the National Quality Lodge program. Journey to Excellence places emphasis on continuous improvement.

2012 Philmont OA Adviser Training

The Philmont OA Adviser Conference is for any currently registered adult member of the OA, including professional Scouters. The conference is tailored to address the specific needs of the participants, to share information from successful lodges across the Nation, and to discuss possible solutions to some of the common challenges faced by many chapters and lodges. Our goals are to challenge, educate and inspire the participants and staff! Learn more about OA Adviser Training!

Scout Surge 9/11

The Order of the Arrow is working with the Boy Scouts of America to help promote Scout Surge 9/11. Lodges and chapters are encouraged to lead service projects in their area with units between September 1-10, 2011. Help promote Scout Surge 9/11 through social media and share your story.

Kids to Camp Partnership Launched

In May 2011, the national Order of the Arrow committee approved the Get Kids to Camp Partnership, an initiative to financially support and help local Scouts get to summer camp. Unlike other Scouting camperships, this program works in partnership with local lodges and councils to create a matching grant program to cover camp fees for qualified and trained adults to serve as leaders for chartered or provisional units lacking adult leadership. Congratulatory Eagle Letter

A new free awards and recognition congratulatory Eagle letter is available from the national officers. This recognition letter is a great addition to any Eagle Scout's court of honor. Click here to download the letter.

SummitCorps Trail Progress Updates

SummitCorps is in full swing with the first weeks crew building trail. A PDF map of the area is being generated almost daily to show the progress. You can check out the progress here.

SummitCorps Opens

The 2011 SummitCorps has officially kicked off with the arrival of the Arrowmen who will be working on the trails in the New River Gorge National River. Coming from all across the country, these dedicated Arrowmen are eager to begin the projects that will lay the foundation for the coming weeks. Read more about SummitCorps opening.

2010 Annual Report Now Posted

The 2010 Order of the Arrow Annual Report is now available for download. Please use this as a reminder that objective #10 on the Quality Lodge Recognition Petition requires each lodge to "submit a written annual report of accomplishments to their council executive board" each year. The 2008 Order of the Arrow Annual Report can be a guide or the OA National Web Site has a "template" that will assist greatly in preparing your report. The template is available in the Lodge Resource Section.

OA Announces Partnership with American Hiking Society

The Order of the Arrow has teamed up with the American Hiking Society (AHS) to offer our Scouts and Scouters more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. For years, it has been our purpose to enjoy the outdoors as well as be its stewards. For more information on this opportunity click here.

A new version of the Red Arrow Nomination form is now available. This version is form-fillable and improved over the previous version.

SummitCorps to Benefit the New River Gorge National River

Since ArrowCorps5 many Arrowmen and Scouters have been asking when and what will be the next national Order of the Arrow service project. The wait is finally over and in just a few months Arrowmen will begin SummitCorps: The New River Experience! 2011 Forms Posted

The 2011 versions of the DSA Nomination form, E. Urner Goodman Camping Award Petition, Founder's Award Petition, National Service Award Petition, Vigil Honor Petition, and 2011 National Election Candidate Form are now available in the Forms Section. Also forms for the Section Annual Report, Section Report, and the Section Conclave Report are posted in the Forms Section.

2012 Service Grant Application

Since 1999, the National Order of the Arrow Committee has provided matching grant money to lodges for camp property or service center projects in their local council. The application for service grants must be submitted by October 31, 2011 for consideration. Please click here for the application.

The 2010 Quality Lodge Pin Order Form has been posted to the forms section.

Lodge Program Resource DVD 2011

The 2011 Lodge Program Resource DVD is now available. The online DVD includes Guides, Forms, and Videos. This DVD also includes Lodge Program Pak Ads for use in newsletters to assist in advertising the programs and events for 2011. Be sure to check out these great resources and pass them to your lodge's communications vice-chief!
